Wolfgang Books To Close This March

A Note From Jason

I am sorry to say that Wolfgang Books will close when our lease expires at the end of March. After five years, I can no longer maintain the business and am not able to renew the lease. I have enjoyed my time as the owner of Wolfgang Books considerably, and I thank all of you who have supported the store over the past five years 1xbet promo code.

It is news to no one that our country's economy is struggling at the moment, and sales at Wolfgang Books have been affected dramatically over the past year or so. In addition, as more and more people move to e-readers we have experienced a classic example of a "chipping away effect." While a great deal of Wolfgang Books customers remain committed to books as a physical object, not all do, and the margins are too slim to be able to sustain a loss of any of our patrons. This isn't to say that one way is right or wrong; it is just the unavoidable truth 1xbet promo.

While I am thankful for all of our customers and recognize that there are people who do their best to buy their books locally and independently, there just aren't enough of you to keep the store going. There are surely factors for this -- the town itself, foot traffic on Bridge Street, the store's location -- but, as above, the reasons don't matter as much as the reality caused by them.

I have had the good fortune to work with so many wonderful people in the book business. I feel lucky to have worked with such inspiring colleagues, and I do hope that we can work together in the future. In the meantime, keep on doing your good work.

I do not currently know what lays ahead for me, but I am hopeful for the future. I do regret, though, that it will not be one where I am selling books in Phoenixville. Thank you again for your support over the past five years, and I hope that many great books await you.

All good things,

Jason Hafer

Your Independent Options

Trappe Book Center will move closer to Phoenixville this March to their new home in the Providence Town Center (near the Wegmans). It should be a great move for them, and they are expanding their operations to include a cafe and additional product lines.

Wellington Square Bookshop is also a great option. It's a beautiful store that sells new, used and rare books, has an incredible staff and coffee bar. It's a throwback sort of store so maybe that's why we like it so much. If you haven't checked them out, you need to do so.

Chester County Book and Music Company in West Chester was the first bookstore that Jason worked at and is still one of his favorites. It's huge, and if the staff doesn't know what book you're talking about it doesn't exist. They do an incredible job there, and they've always been one of the best bookstores around.

One Last Event

with John Reimringer
author of Vestments

Saturday, March 12th @ 3pm
@ Steel City Coffee House

One of the legends of Wolfgang Books (and a true one at that) is that the business began with a single book. Rather than go out with a whimper, we'd like to go out with...one book.

Vestments-FINAL250

So we're going to bring in John Reimringer, all the way from St. Paul, Minnesota for the last installment of the Writers at Bridge and Main Series at Steel City Coffee House. John is the author of the recently released Vestments, one of our 2010 books of the year. It is a powerful and compelling story, not to mention expertly written. One of the most striking aspects of the novel is that John writes so well about such a variety of experiences: the legacies of childhood, a pick-up basketball game, high school love and questions of faith, just to name a few.

Above all, Wolfgang Books always aimed to put the best work in your hands, and Vestments certainly is representative of that. We hope that you'll be able to make it to this last order of business and help us go out the same way we came in. Free and open to the public @ Steel City Coffee House.

Books Will Go on Sale

We have a lot of books left to sell, and will be having some pretty good sales over the next two months. We're starting with 20% off all new books and we'll see where we go from there. We are still able to special order books for you, too, although the discounts won't apply to those. So stop by and get a bargain PariMatch app.

Thanks again for all of your support over the past five years!
